Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself Program Helps Homeowners After California SB 94

The Homeowner Defense Network teaches people how to modify their own home loans.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 27, 2009 -- The Homeowner Defense Network, an organization providing trusted resources to distraught homeowners, announces its Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program. The service offers low-cost loan modification options to homeowners who have fewer choices after the passing of California State Bill 94.

"SB 94 stopped the loan modification industry dead in its tracks," says Brett Robbins, president of The Homeowner Defense Network. "And while the idea behind SB 94 was to eliminate unethical loan mod companies, the consequence is a power shift from the homeowner back to the lender."

In an attempt to weed out fraudulent loan modification companies across California, SB 94 went into effect October 11, banning companies in the business of loan modification from accepting up-front fees.

And Robbins says the "no upfront fee" model that some companies are currently advertising can be misleading, since homeowners will end up paying significant costs.

Now faced with fewer options, homeowners may be forced to modify their own loans at a disadvantage without professional representation. For many, this can be an extremely difficult, time-consuming and confusing process.

"Homeowners are currently hard pressed to find assistance with the loan mod process," says Robbins. "And companies still operating may or may not be compliant with the law," he adds. But with the Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program, Robbins says homeowners can take educated, calculated and professional-level steps in order to obtain the loan modification they need on their own.

Created by industry experts, the Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program offers key tools for successful loan modifications. Homeowners obtain expert direction on what increases the chance of a loan modification - items that are sometimes necessary and give an advantage to the borrower but aren't always obvious because they're not required by the lender.

These tools include a proper loan modification proposal, which shows important data on why the loan modification is in the lender's best interest, and a forensic audit that exposes the lender's potential liability if it previously violated state and federal laws. These items typically produce better results in the loan modification process and have swayed the lender from a "no" to a "yes" answer in many situations, says Robbins.

But the central focus and major benefit of the Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program is access to an online educational course with detailed information on the loan modification process, including tips for success and forums to ask questions of the experts. Participants of the program also gain admittance to a weekly teleseminar series, hosted by the founder of the program and created to help homeowners master the loan modification method.

"The Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program puts power back into the hands of homeowners by giving them professional tools to represent themselves in front of the lender," says Robbins. "This gives homeowners a significant advantage and at the same time, an opportunity to save potentially thousands of dollars on loan mod costs by cutting out the middle man and costly attorneys."

He adds, "What's most important is the end result: allowing people to save their homes by making their mortgages more affordable."

From now until November 30 while homeowners are trying to adjust to the legislation, The Homeowner Defense Network is offering one complementary service from its Loan Modification Do-It-Yourself program by mentioning offer code LMPR1.
